On repeat.

Yesterday, I embraced my eyes with watching the movie, Sex & the City. Don't hate. I love me some Carrie Bradshaw...haha. Anyway, the one thing in the movie that always gets me every time is when the Beethoven love letter is read when Carrie and Big are in bed....then another time when they get married at City Hall and Big whispers the last three lines in Carrie's ear. Ok, so I'm just a big sap. I remember blogging about this before on myspace many-many months ago, but I tend to reblog things that I adore. On repeat. Anyway, if you have or have not seen the movie...I just wanted to share the lovely letter with you guys.

Beethoven - Love Letters of Great Men
Good morning, on July 7

Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men - At my age I need a steady, quiet life - can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once - Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose to live together - Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.

ever thine
ever mine
ever ours
Here is a poem that I have on repeat in my mind and heart as well by E.E. Cummings. When I first heard of it via In Her Shoes movie, I cried like a big baby. The relationship between the two sisters in the movie reminded me a lot of Nancy and I - minus the stealing boyfriends part. We can be extreme rivals for some reason, but in the end...if it ever comes down to having to choose sides, we would choose each others. No doubt about that. Here it is below to share.

I carry your heart with me. - E.E. Cummings

I carry your heart with me(I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it(anywhere
I go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
I fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)I want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart(I carry it in my heart)
SIGH. I know, it is probably odd that I found some lovely written words via movies....but it just so happened that way. If you have a favorite poem or reading, please share. I would love to endulge!

The love letter was really very beautiful; I understand why it gets you :) The poem too was brilliant, Cummings' words always have the ability to move a soul.

My favourite love poem is Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet 43, the one that starts famously with the line: "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways."

Oh my goodness Sam, I just read her sonnet and it was just beautiful. I will have to admit that this new find is now a favorite of mine. Thank you so much for introducing me. :)

@Michelle - I'm glad you love them too! :)

@Barbara - I'm sure there will be plenty who would love to swoon you with their writing skills. :)

@Manda - Girl...that is one thing I sort of want for a girl. The box set of Sex & the City! I'm getting tired of catching the reruns on TBS! (Not really...lol.)

@blivbook - Hi there! Thank you for stopping by dearest! I will have to stop by your blog. :)

@Lily - Sometimes it's so nice to just be by yourself. Sounds selfish, but hey...it's always best to love yourself before you love someone else. Take it as a benefit for now. Enjoy it! :)

@Alely - Perfectly said! :D
